Xu Wang is an associate professor at the Institute of Acoustics, Tongji University. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees in acoustics from Nanjing University in 2006 and 2009, respectively, and his Ph.D. in acoustics from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2012. He is a member of the Environmental Acoustic Branch of the Acoustical Society of China, and a member of the Environmental Physics Branch of the Chinese Society of Environmental Sciences. He has served as a reviewer for more than 10 international journals such as Nature Communications, Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, Building and Enviroment.

Research interests: urban noise control in complex environments. In view of the challenges of urban development to environmental noise control in the new era, the key technology of environmental noise control based on transparent metasurface was developed, which broke through the limitations of existing sound insulation methods to obstruct air circulation, realized the meta-acoustic barrier with both efficient ventilation and broadband noise reduction, filled the technical gap of environmental noise control in the circulation environment, and solved the problem of noise shielding under the natural ventilation of urban green buildings.

Xu Wang has published more than 40 high-level papers such as Phys. Rev. Letts and Sci Bull, and his research results have been reported by Ars Technica, Shanghai Science and Technology News and other media. Xu Wang won the 2023 China Emerging Science and Technology Figures Outstanding Impact Award; Winner of the 3rd "Haiju Talents" Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition; 2022 Tongji University Top Ten Most Transformational Potential Achievement Award.
